THERE IS SUFFICIENT LAND THAT EVERYONE SHOULD HAVE A HOUSE. The UK Government and Local Authorities keep talking about affordable housing. Yet surely any residence is affordable if you have the money and none are if you have not. Each week more millionaires are created still even more have-nots. At the same time the average UK house price is in excess of £250,000. Of course this tell us very little -except what we already know, which is that relatively few of us earn sufficient to be able to afford a house that expensive. Of course as there is a lot of regional variation we don’t need statistics but common sense and Google to tell us that a house in some parts of London can cost well in excess of £1,000,000 and in less prosperous areas less than £130,000. Of course whether you live in West London or Northern Ireland it doesn’t much matter to a lot of people what the cost of a house is if they can’t afford one.
