THESE LAST FEW DAYS HAVE TAUGHT ME A FEW THINGS I NEVER REALIZED BEFORE... I used to think, life is what you make it... isnt that how the saying goes? Well... it isnt true. Life is NOT what you make it, because if it were, it would be Amazing, wouldnt it? If life is what you make it, it would be amazing. Truth be told, you actually have NO CONTROL over it, not at all... no my Dear Friend, you do not have life by the tail... life has YOU! When we are born, we are thrust upon Lifes scaly back without a saddle, as it plows through oceans of time, dark and deep, and leaps over islands of sand. Its quiet moments are unpredictable and short lived. Life is wild, relentless, and unapologetic... yet, the unpredictable disposition of Life, is the Spiritual Sailors dream. We build our Castles, upon the back of this cavorting creature; but alas, just when things are shaping up as weve planned, along comes an unforeseen wave, and it flattens the Castles we have so carefully and Lovingly created for ourselves. That is our first clue that, all Castles, truly are, only made of sand. So, we say to ourselves, that didnt last, but Ill simply not do that again, Ill turn my attentions toward something solid, and begin again... so, you do... and for a time, things are going well. You learn to build stronger structures, make better plans, and the finished product makes you very proud. What could possibly go wrong, now? But... suddenly, the ocean swells... it lifts up a breaker, just as wide as your vision is deep... and it crashes down upon all that you have built, and takes everything you Love, out to sea. You are left with nothing, This time, you feel the burning sting of loss; you fold up with the hollowness in your gut... and you sit in the hollow place, stunned and broken. But yet again, after awhile, you begin to look around, assessing the loss. Reluctantly, you recognize the futility of sitting in the place of sorrow... slowly, you rise to your feet, and begin to build again. This time, you will NOT build the way you previously had. This time, you will plan meticulously. NOTHING will go amiss! Your confidence swells, Courage fills you with an exciting new Strength and determination... this time, you will NOT FAIL! However... while you are beginning to build again something new and indestructible, a Tsunami is building far out at sea; and is now racing toward the shoreline. Before you have even finished your new masterpiece, inexplicable disaster strikes. Too overwhelmed to fall to your knees, you stand there, breathlessly... and when you finally catch your breath, one word slips from between your lips: a quiet, WHY? It is usually at this point, many will walk away, leaving their Course, unfinished, instead of rising once more to the challenge. they will choose not to continue. They lose the Confidence to stand up to the pounding waves which they know will only continue to bowl them over, relentlessly destroying everything, preventing even their most Courageous efforts to build. Beloved Soul, you are most Dearly Loved by Gods Son, and Adored by your Heavenly Father... therefore, wouldnt it stand to reason, that there is more to this thing called Life for Believers in Christ, than merely the building of great and mighty things? Could it be that the things we do, are not HALF as important, as our Perseverance, our Faithful Obedience, our Willingness to CONTINUE? Do we really think The God who has Created Great and Mighty Things, is expecting Creative Perfection from the inferior dust He Breathed His own Life into? Shall He not rather be Fascinated and Pleased, by the Tenacity and Courage of those who refuse to fall down and STAY down? There is no question that Life is unkind. This world is not a friend to the Followers of Christ. Did He not tell us this world would hate us, but that it first hated Him? Praise God, while we are here, riding the the wild, relentless, scaly back of Life, plowing through oceans of time so dark and deep, the Anchor Holds!. Placing our Faith, Confidence and Courage in Him, whether in quietness or peril,... JESUS, is our Anchor... and The Anchor Holds, IN SPITE OF THE STORM.
