THESE LIES MUST STOP: ABOUT US: (PART 2; CONTINUED FROM YESTERDAY) Beyond the impact of our righteousness on Nigeria’s temporal and secular affairs, we are concerned that we have lost an eternal perspective and shudder at the possibility of several Christians missing the rapture and heaven. A gospel of greed has taken our eyes away from earnestly preparing for our Lord’s return. We are praying that heaven-mindedness will be restored to the Nigerian church. Col 3:2-3 “Let heaven fill your thoughts; dont spend your time worrying about things down here. 3 You should have as little desire for this world as a dead person does. Your real life is in heaven with Christ and God.” Living Bible These Lies Must Stop (TLMS) commenced the campaign August, 2013. TLMS is run and administered by Friends of God Fellowship, a full gospel church located at 258, Ikorodu Road Obanikoro, Lagos. By the grace of God, for the last 12 years since the founding of Friends of God Fellowship, the messages of These Lies Must Stop (TLMS) has been consistently preached from our pulpit. This campaign (TLMS) is an extension of God’s mandate to preach the truth and resist error; and we are trusting God to give His message wings and power. Some take the view that we are being judgemental. This interpretation of judgement is inaccurate. The bible indeed asks us to judge ourselves so that we shall not be judged. In fact, it encourages us to remove the log in our eyes so we can see clearly. God does not require us to altogether refrain from judgement. Rather He requires us to live above hypocrisy by ensuring that we are not guilty of the same things we seek to correct. God does not forbid correction in the name of “judge not” as many think. Matt 7:1-5 Judge not, that ye be not judged. 2 For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again. 3 And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brothers eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye? 4 Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye? 5 Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brothers eye. KJV We miss the message if we read vs. 1 and 2 without reading 3-5. Our Lord Jesus in fact asked that we should judge righteously: John 7:-24 Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment. KJV Others counsel us to “touch not mine anointed and do my prophet no harm”. They also remind us about the error of Korah, Dathan, and Abiram (Numbers 16) where they were swallowed up by the ground due to rebellion. These men were motivated by envy. Ps 106:16-18 “They were envious of Moses, yes, and Aaron too, the man anointed by God as his priest. 17 Because of this, the earth opened and swallowed Dathan, Abiram, and his friends; 18 and fire fell from heaven to consume these wicked men.” Living Bible. We are not motivated by envy. We seek not position or recognition. All we seek is that all of us, starting with the members of the Friends of God Fellowship, return to truth so that a generation will fulfill its destiny rather than continuing as a “wasted generation”. We are not out to witch-hunt anybody, we are here to tell the truth and encourage all Christians to take their rightful place as Light and Salt of this great nation of ours. More importantly, it is a lie to elevate men, no matter how highly placed above correction. Paul rebuked Peter openly. Gal 2:11 But when Peter came to Antioch I had to oppose him publicly, speaking strongly against what he was doing, for it was very wrong. Living Bible. One of the worst lies in the church is the elevation of any man above the test of the scriptures 1 John 4:1 Dearly loved friends, dont always believe everything you hear just because someone says it is a message from God: test it first to see if it really is. Living Bible. We must abandon the notion that ascribes even the slightest iota of infallibility to our fathers, pastors and elders. This is one of the lies. Satan’s most potent route to deception is through the pulpit; He does not wear a black dress with horns to church on Sunday. That will be too obvious. His most effective route is through a gradual dilution of truth from the pulpit, until the error becomes large, bit by bit, as is our situation in Nigeria now. We have concluded a series of posts on the 6 lies that relate to “Responsibility for The State of The Nation.” We will now start on a next set of 5 lies on “Faith, Money and Prosperity”. SCRIPTURES 2 Chron 7:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. KJV; 2 Chron 7:14 (“These Lies Must Stop Translation”) Nigerian Christians are quite good at fasting, praying and seeking to prosper. But it pains my heart that much as they pray, fast and seek to prosper, majority of my children in Nigeria are suffering and living in poverty. The reason is that they have conformed to the evil behavior and customs of their country, particularly bribery and corruption. If a sufficient number of Nigerian Christians resolutely resolve to shun this vice, and stop paying or giving bribes, I will heal their land. My transformed children will make their government’s transformation agenda a possibility and a reality. Then both my children and many other Nigerians will enjoy the riches and greatness I have destined for Nigeria. Rom 12:2 Dont copy the behavior and customs of this world, but be a new and different person Living Bible Rom 12:2 (“These Lies Must Stop Translation”) Dear Nigerian Christian, don’t copy the behavior and customs of Nigeria, particularly the pervasive culture of bribery and corruption. You cannot really please God until you are different from the average Nigerian by taking a firm stand against bribery and corruption in every form. Mark 9:43-50 If your hand does wrong, cut it off. Better live forever with one hand than be thrown into the unquenchable fires of hell with two! 45-46 If your foot carries you toward evil, cut it off! Better be lame and live forever than have two feet that carry you to hell. 47 And if your eye is sinful, gouge it out. Better enter the Kingdom of God half blind than have two eyes and see the fires of hell, 48 where the worm never dies, and the fire never goes out- Living Bible Mark 9:43-50 (“These Lies Must Stop Translation) If getting that contract requires a bribe, forgo it. If getting that deal needs paying off the Contract Manager, forfeit the contract. Stop receiving bribes even it means you have to cut down on a lot of things and suffer some hardship. You may in fact have to quit a job if the only way to continue is to keep paying or receiving bribes. Don’t put your eternal life at risk by joining in this prevalent way of life. PRAYER: Heavenly Father, I desire to please you. Help me to overcome this plague of bribery and corruption in Jesus name. God make me a part of your army of integrity to fulfill Nigeria’s destiny in Jesus name. Make me ready for your return and strip me of anything that can lead me to eternal damnation in Jesus name, Amen.
