THINGS FALL APART: CHINUE ACHEBE CONTINUES: "Okonkwo was deeply grieved. And it was not just a personal grief. He mourned for the clan, which he saw breaking up and falling apart and he mourned for the war-like men of Umuofia, who had so unaccountably become soft like women". As sequence expert,I saw Chinua Achebe in his desperate attempt to promote and uphold his pre-colonial state, exposed the qualitative change of life brought by the white men to his place at that time. For me chinua Achebe was indirectly euro-centric but wanted to strike balance with his popularity as an afro-centric scholar with militant view about change contrarily in european format. His subsequent books proved that but his romance with his culture and traditional religion was just an embellishment of his writing skills than a fundamental belief.Things fall apart when okonkwo, finds centralised government,a flourishing business, the neutralisation of disputes, the new school system, and the upliftment of the slave class. What an Irony.!
