THINGS I HAVE IGNORED AS A PASTOR My foolishness recalled.... I had been on a long fast for a night vigil program. Long fasts builds up your spirit man for exploits. I was ready. Fasting as we read in Isaiah 58:6 empowers to loose the bonds of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, . . . and that you should break every yoke. Now,while ministering to this lady who came out for deliverance, I noticed she kept her face down. She could not look me in the eye. From my training, that was a straight sign of demonic presence,they usually avoid eye contact.... So I kept lifting her head up but she insisted on looking down.As soon as I ended praying for her, she could not wait to go…another sign! Running away from power.... I called her back and released more “grace” upon her,speaking straight into her face. After the meeting, the lady walked up to me. I was delighted. Here was a grateful one who had returned to give thanks to God and His servant.. What she did next shocked me however…she handed me a roll of peppermint. “Sir….” she said “I perceive you have been on a long fast…this will aid your breathe” and with a smile, she walked away. Good gracious, it was NOT the anointing that kept her head down afteral and certainly was not a demon that made her avoid my eyes, IT WAS MY BAD BREATHE AND BODY ODOUR SHE WAS AVOIDING !!!! Nothing turns you off more than a pastor with foul breathe, sweaty armpits or dirty,greasy palms laid on your head for anointing... My dear wife has since ensured I never go for a ministration without fresh breath strips to hand and I have learnt to take a sip of water to lubricate the mouth. Your mouth releases kitone and gives foul smell when you embark on long fasts.Bad breathe and body odour are side effects of waiting on the Lord in fasting.Thats why the good master taught us some basic hygiene in Matt 6:17: But you, when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face so that your fasting will not be noticed by men....
