THINGS TO REMEMBER BECAUSE ITS ELECTION TIME IN LANCASTER, CALIFORNIA...........REMEMBER WHEN MAYOR PARRIS WIFE WAS ARRESTED FOR CARRYING A GUN IN HER PURSE INTO THE AIRPORT? THE PERMIT HAD EVEN EXPIRED. The AV Press had no intention of carrying the story until I called and asked publisher Markham why was he hiding it? Magically it appeared, watered down but it appeared. Now if it had been me or a few of you activists out there, they would have rehashed every manufactured crumb of dirt they could find. YELLOW JOURNALISM? Now and then I call the publisher William Markham and leave a message or talk directly to him when I am unlucky to get him. I rather leave a message because he tends to grunt a lot when we talk. I ask hlm the same question....why are you censoring me in your paper in terms of Letters To The Editor when over the years he has written so much unsubstantiated dirt about me. And just because past reporters have told me how their stories were altered, made more horrific, or were full of outright lies, theres no reason to try to silence my intelligent and insightful voice. After all, I once wrote 50 columns or more for the paper that appeared every Thursday until I wrote about the deal going on behind the bonds and the building of JetHawks stadium and told people to follow the money trail. The activists back in 1998 got the drift and so did an irate George Runner, Frank Visco, then attorney now judge Randy Rodgers, Rex Parris, and city manager Jim Gilley. Once Markham told me he hated me. Imagine that, a paper that lacks to brag about getting awards has a publisher who hates you and censors you just because you occasionally talk about the dirt some of this advertisers have engaged in. Youd think he would want to print some truth and not just what hes told to print on certain topics. Is that yellow journalism, bias, paranoia, or just wanting to keep certain advertising dollars coming in like when SEASONED REPORTER BOB WUSON WAS PUSHED OUT BECAUSE HE MADE LANCASTER MAD ABOUT SOMETHING HE WROTE. Oh well.....
