As Reynaldo HAHN and Benjamin GODARD, young Ernest CHAUSSON was introduced to the pleasures of the Parisian Salons. As his parents had a grand house in Boulevard de Courcelles, they early established their own Salon, filled with the most talented artists of the cultural Parisian life: COLETTE, MANET, DEGAS, VUILLARD, DINDY, FAURE, DUPARC, MALLARME, etc. As CHAUSSON loved also to paint, to write novels, and of course to compose, it was even more difficult for him to decide about his career, as his father pushed him to study law. At the age of 21 he finally decided to become a composer.
