THIS DAY IN ARKANSAS WEATHER HISTORY... 1857-Some snow fell at Hot Springs. 1893-A tornado touched down at Rich Mountain with 2 dead. 1934-Blowing dust was seen in most of the state with visibility as low as two miles. 1979-A tornado hit Hamburg for the second time in three days. There were also tornadoes at Grannis and Wickes in Polk County, Sweet Home in Pulaski County, and in the north central part of the state. 1987-Baseball sized hail fell in Crittenden County. 1989-A freeze occurred in most of the state, which damaged the peach and tomato crops. 1994-A tornado hit Magnolia. 1995-An early morning thunderstorm produced widespread wind damage in the Little Rock area.
