THIS DAY IN HISTORY, SEPTEMBER 22, 1989, HURRICANE HUGO!!! I would have never thought in a million years I would be able to say I survived a Hurricane, but I can!!! I remember everyone in Lincolnton NC saying there is no Hurricane going to come to our town. I remember going to Foxs Fish Camp the night before and the wind was already beginning to blow. We live 5 or more hours from a North Carolina Beach and 4 hours from a South Carolina Beach! So most people didnt believe the news reports that a Hurricane would come inland so far till 3am September 22 it was very evident it was here! I remember my mom up trying to hurry to make breakfast in fear we may not be able to cook again for a long time and she got it 99% ready when the power went out! I remember going downstairs with my grandmother and eating breakfast ans trees fail all around us! Fortunately none hit our house, but we were the blessed ones! Others in our neighborhood were not so fortunate! I remember going outside when the eye passed over our house and everything went still and quiet, only to begin blowing again as the back side of the storm ripped through! I remember 3 or more weeks of no power, and getting ready for school in the dark because the school I went to regained power a week or more before my house did! Those were interesting times! A time I never want to experience again but the impact of this storm was felt even into the mountains of North Carolina and far into the North! This is a historic memory 25 years ago and its really hard to believe it has been do long but Time moves on but the Storm is only a memory! This is the same in life! Yes storms of great magnitude may come and destroy seeming our entire life but truth be told, out of the devastation comes survival, and life pressing on! I will keep pressing on toward the marl of the high calling which is in Christ Jesus! It seemed bad at the time, but I am still here!! Storms may seem bad at the time, but you will live through it and will not die!
