THIS FRIDAY.... THE REPUBLIC OF FENTONIA presents: NO THRILLS (old-skool punk from Penrith) Over the past sixteen years No Thrills have supported some of the biggest names in punk - Dead Kennedys, UK Subs, The damned, Cockney Rejects, Control and Vice squad, released three albums, Sallys Seven Deadly Hymns, Off The Rails and Us Against em All, and have a loyal and dedicated bunch of fans who follow the band just about everywhere they play. 2013 the band went from strength to strength and saw the release of a 23 track DIY album recorded in their rehearsal room called Its What’s Inside, comprising of six new songs and seventeen revamped crowd favourites from down the years. With appearances at Rebellion and Nice N Sleazy festival already on the books for 2014, a European tour and a new studio album in the pipeline, No Thrills are on the top of their game, loving what they do, and that radiates out through the speakers or from the stage. They are in their own words, quite literally, punk rock till we die NO THRILLS play music with attitude, full in your face, anthemic rock/punk https://facebook/NOTHRILLSUK nothrillspunk.fourfour/home reverbnation/nothrills?page_view_source=facebook_app BOYCOTT THE BAPTIST (hardcore crust-punk/sludge) Pro-Choice, Pro-Fun Crust Punk and Sludge direct from Leeds. Crossing crust/grind with dirty sludge riffs, along the lines of Eyehategod smashing bottles over Wolfbrigade whilst Iron Monkey and Electric Wizard arm wrestle in the pub across the road. https://facebook/pages/Boycott-The-Baptist/224242167740143 reverbnation/c./poni/267374685 EXIT LOUNGE (post-punk/electronica) The group started life as Maloneys occasional solo project. The former Johnny Zhivago and Vicious Cabaret singer released his first recordings under the name Exit Lounge in early 2010, with a full album - entitled Theriac - arriving in 2011. A follow up, called City Bottom Blues, appeared in 2012. But misery loves company - Exit Lounge became a full band in 2013. Hailing from disparate regions of the British Isles, the band is currently based in Leeds, England. On the odd occasion they can find a venue that appeals to their rarefied aesthetic sensibilities, they are known to venture out to perform in public. New material is currently in production and should appear in early 2014... The music policy at Exit Lounge tends towards the seamier side of garage rock and lo-fi electronica; the sort of stuff you might hear emanating from a city bottom bar in a Metal Hurlant comic strip... https://facebook/exitlounge.band exitlounge/ FRANCEENS (garage punk band from York) DIY New York style punknroll three-piece with all the trash, thrash an squawk of 1960s garage and a lil 50s lacquer - Dick Venom The Franceens are a 3-piece from York UK. Their music is a crossover of high-energy garage/punk and 50s rock and roll. Its frantic, intense and full of raw power. They are possibly one of the hardest working bands in the UK, as they usually play a show every week and manage about 4 tours per year. They released their first EP entitled “Duck and Cover” in March 2013, on their own DIY label (now available for free download from their Facebook page) and set out on their first UK tour in the same month. A second UK tour followed in July. In September 2013, the band joined the almighty TNSrecords on a 1 album deal after playing a show for the label in Manchester. October 2013 saw the band have their first taste of major radio-time, as their single Attack was played on BBC Radio 1 by Mike Davies on The Lockup show. Their debut album Stepford Smiles was released in December 2013 by TNS and it received very positive reviews, including a rating of 7 out of 10 in Vive Le Rock magazine. Before the end of 2013, the band joined the roster of European booking agent Turbo Booking, with a view to touring Germany in May 2014. The Franceens fight for DIY music and believe in supporting your local live music scene, whilst also trying to discover and support new bands from further afield. Alongside gigging intensively, they put on and host monthly garage/punk gigs in their hometown of York, under the banner of Behind The White Door. thefranceensyork.bandcamp/album/stepford-smiles https://facebook/TheFranceens louderthanwar/the-franceens-district-liverpool-25th-january-2014-live-review/#sthash.sKsDnaC6.dpuf TIM LOUD (celtic-folk punk from Bootscraper frontman) An acoustic celtic-punk set (sorry Tim, I know you dont really like that term, but dont know how else to characterise it lol) from the frontman of the highly acclaimed Bootscraper. timloud.bandcamp/ DOOR TAX: £3
