THIS IS AN OPEN APPEAL TO SHEIKH RASHID SAHAB NOT TO RESIGN FROM THE NATIONAL ASSEMBLY. In the heat of the moment Sheikh Rashid had said on talk shows that he will resign or leave politics if the Dollar comes down to 98 Rupees. Now the heavily paid and very, very rich TV anchors are pressurizing Sheikh Rashid to resign. Sheikh Sahab was merely expressing disgust at the rulers for having brought Pakistan to the brink of disaster through widespread greed and corruption when he said he will resign if the Dollar comes down to Rs.98. The doomsday scenario in interior interior Sind, especially in Thar Region, bears ample testimony to Sheikh Rashids apprehensions. Today, all over the country disappoinment and disgust are the order of the day. Sometime back, Punjab Chief Minister Shabaz Sharif had openly proclaimed that (1) he will finish off load-shedding in 6 months time, and (2) at a huge gathering of Patwaris, Shabaz Sharif proclaimed that he will drag Zardari Sahab on the Road and make him bring back our Dollars that were lying in the Swiss Bank or else he will (Shabaz) will resign. Well, Shabaz Sharif did neither. Instead, he was last seen with Zardari and the two were hugging and embracing each other like lost lovers having found their mate again. The only thing they did not do was to kiss each other! So, Sheikh Rashid should only resign if Mr. Shabaz Sharif resigns - as he had promised he will. Besides, there is no guarantee how long the Dollar will remain at 98. It may climb up to more than 106 in a few months. We need Sheikh Rashid in the Assembly. His is probably one of the very few voices of sanity now left in the Assembly. Bravo Shikh Rashid Sahab. Just stay there tight.
