The recently reformed The Woodentops were late 1980s Glastonbury headliners and were much loved by both John Peel and the first generation of Balearic / acid house DJs. The first band to cross over between dance and indie music, they prefigured bands such as Happy Mondays - with everyone from Paul Oakenfold to Ashley Beedle playing their records at early acid house parties. “Influences as diverse as Devo, Talking Heads and 1950s rockabilly … they are primarily a pure pop band… with definite psychedelic touches … well worth hearing.” (David Cleary, All Music) Mercury Prize nominated five piece Polar Bear are led by the multi-talented drummer, Seb Rochford. Critically acclaimed as one of the most gifted bands of any genre, they are outstanding musicians and create unique music.
