This young, admittedly poor, financially incapable, yet very talented young nigerian, under the name of Kolade Olanrewaju Freedom, wrote me this letter: Dear Poetic Father (Dr. PenPen), In my moment of solitude,worries and despair, my mouth closed firmly;unable to express the worrisome feelings eating my happiness and faith.I have got nothing else to comfort and uplift my soul but a pen which has never lost its potency of assuring me of a better tomorrow. I started writing poetry due to my determination to speak to my world positively and also express myself without restriction. Due to lack of a computer,I had to type 50 poems on my mobile phone while a friend and mentor(Catherine Mahoney) helped to format on her computer; and today I have written about hundred poems and featured in four international anthologies;(th ree in U.S.A and one in Canada). On my mission without any expectation for personal rewards, I met Dr. PenPen B. Takispilim (You).My poems of transformation without my awareness caught the attention of the father of visual poetry;PenPen B. Takipsilim(YOU) who has offered me invitation to read my poem on stage,participate in a historical forum where the potency of poetry will be discussed and also to receive an award for my valuable contribution to humanity as an inspirational poet. Attending and participating in event is an opportunity for me to inspire the youths who are devoid of opportunities to embrace creativity and also speak to my world positively. I have been through a lot to get here today ;since father died,life has not been friendly,I have been unable to get a college but I have not been unable to tutor myself;I have engaged in personal study so as to gain wide knowledge needed to contribute my quota to humanity...I have also done possible best to refine my writng talent in order to effectively illuminate the world via the pen. I believe there are others who are yet to be illuminated..., my poems reflect light;and the Historical forum organised by the National Library of the philippines is a healthy platform for me to impact world positively.
