THIS JUST HAPPENED: I ran into Target to get some yoga pants. There was a sale. As I was zooming along in the store, there were two 10 year old girls, and as I walked by, one said Ooooo, look at that fat, old lady. Then, they started to laugh. Slowly, I turned. And I said to them, Is your Mom around? Id like to speak to her, because I do not like being made fun of. They started to cry. All of a sudden, their Mom appears. She said to me, Whats going on? And I explained that I was looking for her and that her girls made fun of me. She said to the daughter, What did you say to this nice lady? By this time, the child is unable to speak, she is crying so much. I explained that we work so hard to protect children from being bullied, but that I felt very uncomfortable ab out what they said, and their giggling. The mother apologized, and thanked me for hunting her down, and I thanked her for being supportive, and that I had hoped this was a learning experience for the girls. What would you have done?
