THIS POOR PUP ANDRE... HIS OWNER PASSED AWAY AND HE HAS BEEN STUCK IN THE SHELTER 9 MONTHS. (This is a desperate plea for help finding him a home) Andre has had way to many changes in his life. In his three years, he has gone from being a cute puppy in a shelter to experiencing living in a loving home. Six months ago, due to his owner passing away he had to return to the shelter and since has experienced very brief experiences out side the shelter with potential forever homes. Unfortunately, both homes were not able to keep him. The first, due to the two dogs not accepting each other and the last one didnt have a way to keep Andre safely in their yard. Andre, like many others, is notorious for escaping his yard. He needs a home that will allow him to stay inside when they arent home or a home that has an outdoor pen (only for when you arent home) that will keep him safe. Andre is a dog that due to his many changes in a short 3 years, prefers to be around his people. He is an energetic, young dog who has come great lengths in the past few months with training. This doesnt mean that Andre doesnt still have a lot to learn, continuing training would greatly benefit this strong dog. He is a regular in the shelters training program and has bonded with his handler. Andre shows a great deal of trust and focuses beautifully. He responds well to positive reinforcement training AKA treat training. Some requirements for Andres forever home include a cat free home, due to his prey drive. We are currently successfully working on the Leave it command and we are making progress. Also, because Andre is still learning his manners, a home where he would be the only dog for now is desired. Andre is not great in size, however, he is a strong dog, both physically and mentally. So, he requires a dog savvy owner to has the strength and time to continue his training. In return this amazing boy will give back unconditional love and the best doggie snuggles around. He currently lives at Mendocino County Animal Services in Ukiah, CA. More information can be found at mendoshelterpets and you can call me directly with inquiries at 7079729359. No one knows him better than me at this point. Thanks so much. ~ Shanna Phillips ~ volunteer.
