THIS. The point that Iron Fist should be played by an Asian-American specifically as a means to talk about rejection and reconnection with your cultural heritage is a terrific idea. I also say this as a guy who loved Matt Fraction and David Ajas take on Iron Fist as a 70s Shaw Bros kung-fu exploitation film with production values. Plus, to those who say that casting someone Asian-American in a martial arts master role is racist, I counter that The Last Airbender, The Forbidden Kingdom, and the live action Dragon Ball movie mean Asian actors cant even get to be the martial arts masters any more. I mean, seriously, you get Jackie Chan and Jet Li in the same movie, but your hero is a doofy white kid? WTF? At this point Ill take what I can get.
