THIS isnt a Partnership issue but it is a City of Leesburg issue - TopicsExpress

THIS isnt a Partnership issue but it is a City of Leesburg issue that is getting a great deal of conversation in LWOM, thought I would share.. City officials said utility rates must be raised to balance the budget. Its not fair to shift the burden onto residents with already high utility rates. According to the minutes from the last commission meeting ...in July 2013, after a heated discussion, the Commission passed an Ordinance for a five percent per year rate increase for electric for three years. This was brought to the attention of our new City Manager and the Commission was reminded that it promised to review this every year. New rates to become effective with all electric bills rendered on or after 1 November 2013, which represents a 5% increase over the current rates. It also provides for a 5% rate increase on 1 November 2014, and on 1 November 2015..... It seems that our utilities are higher then most in this county and are going to increase 5% this year and 5% again next year.. will the commission actually keep its promise and review the need for the increase or will they just let it ride?
