THOUGHT OF THE DAY: 10/16 So I have been known to be a little trashy pop-music queen... I am sucked into popular music faster than a 12 year old girl. It happened with Justin Timberlake, Black Eyed Peas, Lady Gaga, Selena Gomez, ect... if its got a good beat, I will inevitably fall in love with it. Nowadays I am more into K-pop than anything else, but in the last few months I have been keeping my eye on Pharell Williams. However... have you ever liked an artist, only to find out later that they didnt do their own music, or ripped off someone else, or did something objectionable or illegal, and it gave you a moment of pause, and made you reconsider how you felt about them? As it just so happens, its happening to me, right now. In regards to Pharell Williams... I really like his stuff, its got a great beat and he is charismatic and cute in his own right. A red flag here and there have made me bite my lip in apprehension, but his catchy stuff won the day. Until I saw It Girl. It was catchy and cute, and the first time I watched the video, nothing seemed wrong or questionable... until I really listened to the lyrics... and noticed that the It Girl he was referring to, was a prepubescent girl. Yeeeeeeeeaaaaaaah... no. So here is my quandary... a few days ago a friend of mine posted about how pedophiles shouldnt be reviled as objects of disgust. That pedophiles were just born with the curse to find kids attractive, and its not their fault... just like I am trans, and its not my fault. Its the ones that ACT upon those feelings of attraction that are objects of disgust, ect... I thought about that, I really did and its still rattling around up in my melon, being a nuisance. Before, I just dismissed the whole idea that a pedophile was anything more than subhuman trash... but when compared to ME and how I didnt decide to be this way... gave me pause. What do you think? Do you think Lolicon like It Girl is okay, as long as little girls arent being molested? Do you think pedophiles are just people trying to do their best in a biased world, or do you think they are just sick and need help?
