THOUGHTS FOR THE NEW YEAR (a message from THOR) Many have written about this period of silence that has ensued over the past two weeks, so we thought we would touch base with all of you. And as we end this year, we would like to share some thoughts for the New One about to begin. Even though this period of silence and inactivity is difficult to endure, we must remember all that we have accomplished in such a little period of time. Remember that once the message went out to all of you, you greatly pulled together to form various groups of action. The students and faculty rallied together to spread the word to the public at large. The sisters in the convent, who thought they were alone and had no recourse, have found strength in all that has been done. And because of all these efforts and prayers, a buyer has come forward who wants to keep the school and the sisters! Unfortunately, we have also seen things which are not so pleasant. The Board of Trustees has proven its ineptness. The Cardinal Archbishop, along with his lackeys, have all turned their backs on the ones they have been entrusted to protect. And those in leadership positions in the RDC have not only shown a LACK OF COMPASSION, but have proven that they have the neither the children’s nor the elderly’s best interests at heart. In a word – DISAPPOINTING! But that is not where our focus should lie. As we start this New Year, we must ALL make our resolution to continue to fight this grave injustice, no matter what. We have received word that for some reason, the students were told that the last rally they had would be the last. (Perhaps it was meant that it was the last one before the Christmas break.) We do not know who said that or why, but we DO NOT HOLD THAT POSITION! Remember – potential buyers have TURNED AWAY because of the continued presence at these rallies. It is because of these rallies that the media became involved, so rest assured –they WILL continue, whenever and WHEREVER they are needed, including Carol Wagner’s doorstep! Some final notes: A contact of ours has sent the following information to us, which those in real estate and law may be able to follow up on, “New York State has a Fair Housing Law which prevents buyers or sellers from discriminating as to who will occupy the property. We believe there might be a case here for age and religious discrimination. At one time, it was called red lining.” Anyone who can act on that – please do! Also, the Cardinal was contacted concerning the information given to us by one of the retired sisters in the convent – but he has done nothing – so please write to him once more. We once shared with you the comment he passed about all the letters he has received in the past. Recall the parable of the persistent widow and the judge that Our Lord used (Luke 18:1-18) – if they won’t do anything for the right reason, then let them do something in order to shut us up! In conclusion, we would like to thank each and EVERY ONE of you for what you do, and for your continued support. We realize that it has not been easy for you to follow the advice of “a phantom”, but we want you to know that we are grateful for the trust you have shown in us. So, let us continue to pray, let us continue to fight, and let us all continue to SAVE GCA!
