THURSDAY, 24TH JULY WINNING BOTH WAYS “For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain” Philippians 1:21 There is so much comfort in the word of God that if we would spend our lives studying, worrying would be out of our lives. The reason for so much worry and anxiety in the lives of many is because the word of God has not yet gained the dominance and the mastery in their lives. But when one accesses the truth of the word, there would be no more room for worry and anxiety. The believer is not designed to lose in anything and in anyway. That is why the word teaches“that all things work together for good to them that love God and to them who are the called according to His purpose (Romans 8:28). What it means is that once you are called according to God’s purpose, it doesn’t matter what may come your way, it will work for your good. All things work to your advantage; Paul had this understanding and lived his life according to this revelation. From the text, Paul reveals to us that for him to live is Christ and to die is gain. What he means by this is that once he is alive, his whole life is for the course of God. He lives for Him alone, he furthers and promotes His king-dom. He has one objective in life and that is Christ. Christ is his focus and drive and therefore lives for His kingdom and glory only. And again Paul reveals to us that death can be gainful. He makes us know that death is not ceaseless existence as some people presume but rather a means of departure into glory. For Paul he understood that what others dread as death is only a channel into glory and hence he calls it gain. Beloved of God, please understand that, that which Paul says is not applicable to him alone but to every believer who will be awaken to this revelation. Let your life be for one course only; that is for Christ, and you will be rest assured that only gain awaits you in eternity, Shalom!
