THURSDAY 2ND OCTOBER THE BRIGHTER SIDE “She called his name Benoni (son of sorrow), but his father called him Benjamin (son of my right hand).” Genesis 35: 18 Our outlook to life is very important. It is however conditioned by our in-look. For example, when we have been passing through troubles and difficulties, our speech and outlook may be affected and we are apt to see things differently from what they really are. In such situations, a bundle of blessing may be perceived as a parcel of sorrow; and the shaking of the leaves by the gentle breeze may be perceived as the beginning of a storm. But we must resist every attempt to always look at things from the dark side of life. We must see that any blank envelop from heaven has a treasure in it. We must be like Jacob who in the passage above saw Benjamin as the son of his right hand instead of being the ‘Son of Sorrow’ as proclaimed by Rachel. Everything in life has two sides to it and we have a choice to make. The choice we make will either make us happy or sad, excited or discouraged, successful or a failure. Today, how do you see things that are coming across your way? Do you look at them negatively or do you see them positively? Do you see them as difficulties or as opportunities? We must all learn from Jacob. WORD OF PRAYER:- Lord, help me to see the brighter side to everything in life in the name of Jesus’ name, Amen.
