THURSDAY, 9TH OCTOBER NEVER DO THIS “The LORD forbid that I should stretch forth mine hand against the LORD’S anointed: …” I Samuel 26:11 One of the greatest and highest virtues in the kingdom is wisdom. It is basically knowing the right thing to do or say at any given time. Solomon, when he operated by this, knew exactly what to do per time. Our Lord Jesus was said to have grown and waxed strong in spirit, filled with wisdom and the grace of God being upon Him. In His ministry, it was so evident that He knew exactly what to do per time. The people of His day, were always bewildered by His level of communi-cation and practical insight into matters. He spoke with grace and knew exactly what to do at any given time. One of the areas where many people lack wisdom in their dealings is when relating with the anointed of God. An anointed person is one who has been specially chosen by God for a specific work. Such a person is endowed with the Spirit of God in His assignment and therefore that which He does is usually inspired by the Spirit and therefore has His backing. Any attack against an anointed person is seen as an attack against the person of the Spirit of God. It is for this reason that David was so honoured in His generation for He had the wisdom on how to treat the anointed of the Lord. We are all aware of how Saul was rejected by God and began to operate under the influence of an evil spirit. In that moment, he covered almost every inch of ground in pursuit of David just to slay him. But things turned around and Saul was rather placed at the mercy of David. Everyone in David’s camp expected David to kill Saul instantly and went to an extent to give him “tangible” reasons as to why he must kill Saul. But David responded with an answer which is our text of study for today, “...the LORD forbid that I should stretch forth mine hand against the LORD’S anointed …” David was so much aware of the truth that the Lord’s anointed must not be touched and operated by this wisdom regardless of how he or others felt. Beloved, it is a dangerous thing to touch the anointed of the Lord. You might not agree with him, but wisdom demands that you must not touch him. Touching him is like touching the Lord who anointed him and that can bring trouble. Let this wisdom function in you, Shalom! Assignment: Ask God in prayers for forgiveness for any attack you might have made against an anointed of the Lord either by words or deeds. Be blessed as you do so. Amen Ps. David
