THURSDAY TEMPO BY Gathecha p. Wangari. MY LIFE. I remember when I was young, I would doze off on the sofa and wake up the following morning tucked in my bed and life was really smooth. Today I try sleeping on the sofa and il wake up on the same sofa with mosquito bites and maybe a sore throat. Sometimes you even wake up on the floor. That is the time it hits you that you’re all grown up. When in primary school, I never thought I’d ever finish then go to high school, I mean there was still so much time on my side. When I was done with high school, I was so happy. I couldn’t imagine I was this grown up lady. Eagerly waiting for my results, they were out and I had passed and it was time to go to the university. Deep down in my heart I knew I was mummy’s little girl. Well, I joined university and I went through first year to the fourth year. Time really moved fast. Honestly I still thought I was mummy’s little girl until I started attending my age mate’s baby showers and traditional weddings. That’s when it downed on me that I’m all grown up now, finished university and now looking for a job. Reality check is something that hit me real hard. My parents are growing old. They did the best they could to raise us to be successful people and soon it will be our time to start taking care of them. I’m still having a hard time trying to change the mentality of being mummy’s little girl to mum’s grown up lady. Something I’ve come to learn in this journey of mine is that, we make our life the way we want it to be… our future’s fate is in our hands and we mold it exactly the way we want it to look like. I have also learnt that time moves pretty fast and it waits for no one at all. It’s best to move with it so that we won’t get caught off guard. As I said earlier, our life is in our hands, let’s shape it well. Blessed Easter to everyone.
