THURSDAY WITH THE LORD [The Thursday after Epiphany] 1Jn4:19-5:4 Lk4:14-22a Dearests in Christ, Jesus addresses himself as the fulfilment of the Lords promises. He says: today this scripture has been fulfilled in your hearing (Lk4:21). Jesus made this statement when he had finished reading from the prophecy of Isaiah which talked about an agent whom God shall raise to bring freedom for his people. Jesus declaration as the fulfilment of the Lord implies the following: the faithfulness of God in his promises and the need to come freely to Jesus for freedom. Friends in Christ, we ought to trust God in every situation for he is faithful. Also, it is in Jesus, the fulfilment of the prophecy that there is liberty for all who are held captives in various ways. There is recovery of sight for those who cannot see due to many shocking experiences of life in Jesus. There is also freedom for the oppressed in him. Friends in Christ, be free minded to approach Jesus for anything you desire in this life, he knows how best to handle you. He has never known to fail. Jesus declaration is also a challenge to us who say so many things about ourselves without coming close to any of them. Take a look at the posters of those campaigning for public offices in our places. There are beautiful things written about them which they never realise all through their stay in the office. Imagine a politician carrying the following on his posters: the peoples choice, tested and trusted, peoples savior, ishima i Logo etc but after elections, he removes himself from the people. How about us who promise many beautiful things to ourselves at the beginning of the year but never do them or to others and never fulfil them. Jesus would keep to the declaration he has made today. He would give freedom to captives, sight to the blind and announce the year of the Lords favor. He merits our trust. He is indeed the fulfilment of the Lords promises. Go to him all that you desire, i urge you
