TIME FOR A CHRISTMAS MIRACLE! Met a woman recently; a server at a restaurant we frequent. They hadnt staffed the restaurant very well for the night and it was unexpectedly busy, so she was running ragged. We werent angry, just concerned that the meal would take all night. I playfully jibed her that we would need a free dessert for all the waiting. She laughed and said she would get that handled for us. She came back a few minutes later and said the following, OK, the boss said yes, but he was mad. Really? Send him over here, Ill straighten him out, I said with a smile. She laughed and said, Oh, no. I need this job. I cant get fired. Six kids and Christmas is around the corner. Its all me, now. Curious. All you? Yup. My husband died in a car wreck on Christmas Day 2013. He was a chef at a resort in Vegas. Drunk driver in a semi hit him on the way home to see the kids and me. I rubbed my temples and felt about three inches tall. No. No! Dont say it. Uggghhhhh ... Six kids, ages 17 to 7. Two sets of twins. He and I are both twins, and we had two sets. Ive been working 9 am to 10 pm every day this year trying to keep a roof over our heads. Not sure what were going to do for Christmas. Her eyes glistened with familiar tears. By this time I was somber. I muttered something about things working out or God bless or something like that. Couldnt get that last sentence out of my head. Not sure what were going to do for Christmas. Yeah, not on our watch. We paid the bill, went to the ATM and got some cash and went back and gave it to her. I realized that it wasnt enough. I want to cascade this woman in love and joy. I need your help. Send me some dough. Send it to my PayPal ([email protected]) or PM me and Ill send you my mailing address. $20, $10, whatever you think is good. Im gonna gather it all up and give it to her once we have a consensus. Six kids, two sets of twins, first Christmas without Dad, mom working every day just to keep everything balanced? And now were not sure whats up for presents, etc? Uhhhh, nope. Gonna pull out of Christmas Magic and kick this in its teeth! Whos with me?
