TIMELINE FOR RAINFALL OVER NEXT FEW DAYS Evening! Well, we now have a better idea on rainfall timelines and amounts over the next few days. The low that will be causing the issues is not overly deep, but is still putting out a lot of moisture, and needs to be watched very closely. We expect rain to develop during the morning in north Canterbury, before reaching Christchurch and South Canterbury during the afternoon. Rain is expected to be persistent and heavy at times, possibly for 72 hours. From midday Sunday to Midday Wednesday expect that 80-120mm could fall in Christchurch with larger amounts in North Canterbury and the foothills of Mid and South Canterbury. We adivse that you keep up to date with the latest warnings and watches on MetService, and on here. We think this system has the potential to cause significant surface flooding once again! On Wednesday, the low weakens, then deepens again during Thursday. Uncertainty remains about where this will occur. If it deepens to the west of the country, we could well see more rain on Friday, if it happens further to the east (which looks more likely) we should escape more wet stuff.
