TIMELY NOTIFICATION BULLETIN January 22, 2015, 4:21 p.m. In compliance with the Timely Warning provisions of the federal Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act of 1998, Bakersfield College is giving notice of two confirmed instances of Grand Theft Auto of a vehicle parked at Bakersfield College’s Panorama Campus in northeast Bakersfield. REPORTED OFFENSE: Two confirmed incidences of Grand Theft Auto occurring in the southwest parking lot at the corner of Haley Street and University Avenue on Bakersfield Colleges Panorama Campus on Thursday, January 22, 2013. SITUATION: Two vehicle thefts have been reported in a single day. Reported thefts were of Hondas. However, this should not be taken to mean that other makes and models of cars are not the target of thieves. SUSPECT: Unknown. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Please take time when parking your car to be sure that no items of value are in plain sight or left unsecured, as this is inviting for thieves. Be sure your car is locked and the keys are with you at all times. If you have a car alarm, be sure to activate the alarm before leaving your car. Be sure all doors and windows are rolled completely up. If you see any unusual activity in and around Bakersfield College and our parking lots, please call 395-4554, or in an emergency, call 911. Please remember that if you call 911 on a cell phone the 911 call will go directly to CHP dispatch. If you call 911 from Bakersfield College using a land line phone your call will be answered by the Bakersfield Police Department dispatch. If you call Bakersfield College Public Safety at 395-4554 or 395-4555, the officers on campus can immediately contact Bakersfield Police Department dispatch and have Bakersfield Police Department officers respond as necessary. WHY ARE WE REPORTING: Due to two vehicle thefts, and without relevant information about the suspect(s), it can be assumed that conditions continue to exist that may pose a threat to students and staff of Bakersfield College. It is the duty of Bakersfield College to warn of possible dangerous conditions on or near its campuses, or of possible injury at the hands of some third party or parties. Thank you in advance for your assistance and continued cooperation with our security at Bakersfield College. Remember....if you see something, say something. WHAT IS BCALERT?
