TM20141225 TODAYS MESSAGE OLUWAMUYIWA OKUSEINDE : And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord (Luke 2:10-11). When Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea, the angels came and told the shepherds in the countryside of what had happened. In particular, they relaid to the shepherds the significance of Christs birth to them and the rest of humanity. Among other things, the angels told the shepherds that following the birth of Jesus, men now have access to the glory of God and the peace of God that passes all human understanding. Joy, great joy orchestrated by the Lord God Almighty which would not be dependent on happenings around could now replace sorrow and sadness in the hearts of men. Above all, the birth of Christ, the Messiah signified that salvation from sin and deliverance from the power of Satan was now freely available. In short, it was in every way an announcement of unprecedented and unparalleled good news to men. But the purpose of todays message is not just to itemise the salient points in the angelic announcement. What the angels told the shepherds are always there for us to read in the Bible. However, our real purpose today is to emphasise that the import of Christs birth is not only applicable to the generation of that time and place in which Christ was born. Rather the benefits of the birth of Jesus applies to all generations in all the places of the world. The implication of this is that everything the angels told the shepherds two thousand years ago, they are also announcing to those of us living in the twenty-first century. And everything they said to those shepherds living in Bethlehem, they are saying to the people living in Afghanistan and Algeria, Brazil and Britain, Canada and China, Denmark and New Zealand. It is good news for all men in all generations in all places of the world. Everything about Jesus is for universal application. Should you need joy, you can have it now because Jesus Christ was born. Joy in your heart, marital joy and bliss, career joy and fulfilment, joy in every sense is possible for you because Jesus was born. All round peace, love, health and full salvation is available to all that would receive because of Christmas day. And I should tell you this though it may surprise you, those angels are still around ministering the same good news in Jesus Christs power to all who would hear. Oh, this is really exciting, its a whole message on its own - and for another day. From the bottom of my heart, I wish you a merry Christmas.
