TO BE DESTROYED TOMORROW, FRIDAY 8.15.14 My name is ZEUS. My Animal ID # is A1009580. NEW HOPE RESCUE ONLY LOOK AT THIS HANSOME MAN – LEASH TRAINED, BUT THIS GUY IS VERY NERVOUS & VERY AFRAID IN THE SHELTER AFTER HE WAS DUMPED AS A “STRAY” BUT WHO CAN BLAME HIM!! IF YOU HAVE THE EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE TO SAVE THIS BOYS LIFE & GIVE HIM WHAT HE DESERVES PLEASE SAVE HIS LIFE!! HELP GET HIM OUT ASAP AS HE IS SCARED TO DEATH & ONLY HAS TONIGHT. A volunteer writes: Zeus is named for the singular Father of the gods and one look at his well toned physique, magnificently handsome head and perfectly cropped ears confirms it - this boy is in a class all his own! Though hes a bit shy at first, after a little sweet talk and the offer of a treat he allows me to leash him with no problem and we saunter (did you really expect such a unique guy to simply walk?) out to the yard where he promptly pees a river - good boy Zeus! Free in a pen hes somewhat anxious to get back outside but once I pick up a squeaky toy his attention is all mine and soon were engaged in a nice game of fetch - only Zeus doesnt quite get the fetch part! Hell dash off to grab it but quickly drops his prize on the ground and walks away like hes too cool for school. But then I pick it up and we start all over again with the same eager attention, quick retrieval and feigned disinterest. Oh, Zeus, you cant fool me, I know theres a fun-loving puppy hiding behind that manly man exterior! He lets me tie a bandanna on for our photo shoot and seems fine with slow head petting (even allowing me to touch a boo-boo on his nose) and though hes relaxed enough when walking close and even bumping into his handler, its clear Zeus is not keen on having his body petted and hell warn me off with a quick head flip and a growl, behavior consistent with his official Center assessment. When its time to go back to his den Zeus is a total gentleman, hopping back inside with no complaints at all, and this time instead of returning to his bed he stays standing, his tail softly wagging and his beautiful face upturned so I can stroke his nose through the door. Time, love and understanding are the key to unlocking Zeus secret heart and I so hope hell be given a second chance to prove what a loyal and loving companion he can be. If you have the experience and knowledge to help Zeus then please dont hesitate, he needs a hero today. HURRY HURRY HURRY!!
