TO EVERYTHING, THERE IS A SEASON Good morning once again my dear brothers and sisters in Christ. I am delighted to be sharing this Good News with you this morning and I like to begin with a testimony. For the first time today, I was able to wake up before my alarm clock and for this, I am so happy. Why?. They say it takes 40 days to develop a new habit and if you consistently do something for the next 40 days, it becomes part of you. I recall it was about 40 days ago I decided to start sending daily reflections to all my contacts and to be honest I had to struggle with it, right now it has become my nature to wake up at exactly 4.30am to prepare these reflections. What it simply means is that the theory of 40 days works. If you want to acquire a new talent or habit or if you want to drop a particular vice, this is a practice that can work its own miracles on you. Just decide to make a sacrifice for the next 40days doing that which you want to turn into a habit or refraining from doing that vice which you want to drop. You may struggle with it. But after 40 days, I assure you that you would have noticed remarkable improvements in your character. No wonder, Jesus fasted 40days and 40 nights. It was a time of intense preparation, a time of prayer, a time for study and reflection, a time of overcoming temptations, a time for becoming the man to save mankind from destruction. Those 40 days Jesus spent in the desert were the most important days of his life. It was a time, Jesus developed the art of solitude and prayer and in the course of his ministry, he never ceased going to a quiet place all by himself to pray. Even the Gospel passage this morning begins by telling us how he went to a quiet place to pray. Dear Friends, the secret of Jesus’ success was that he understood the rhythm of life. He knew when it was time to act, he knew when it was time to speak, he knew when it was time to be quiet, he knew when it was time for prayer. Jesus’ life is a clear demonstration of today’s first reading. To everything, there is a season and a time for every purpose under heaven. A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to uproot the plant. A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to tear down, and a time to build. A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance. A time to scatter stones, and a time to gather them; a time to embrace, and a time to be far from embraces. A time to seek, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away. A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to be silent, and a time to speak. A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace. Ecclesiastes 3:1-8. Life happens in seasons, there is a stage for everything, nothing lasts forever! There is a time to plant and a time to harvest. If you do not plant when you ought to do so, you will never harvest when it is time for harvesting. You may have to weep and mourn during the time of planting, you may struggle while building a business or while trying to develop a new habit and even make lots of losses but your pain will not last forever, your struggle will not last long. A time will come when your hard work will pay off. NO MATTER WHAT YOU ARE GOING THROUGH IN LIFE TODAY, JUST KNOW THAT IT WILL NOT LAST FOREVER. This may be your season of mourning, it may even be your season of laughing but never forget that just as the earth rotates about its orbit and revolves around the Sun slowly and gradually so also are the events of life constantly in motion. Nothing happens by chance, we must plan our life according to seasons, we must plan our daily activities. If you want to achieve success, you must recognize that there is a time for you to bend down and work. Your life must be well planned, there must be a specific time for everything. For instance, the reason why many of us find it difficult to pray is that we do not have a particular time of the set aside for prayer and as a result we keep postponing prayers forever. If plan properly, according to this principle of timing, we set aside a particular time for prayer, it soon becomes part of us and we do not even need to be reminded anymore. Good morning. Be Happy. Live Positive. Have Faith. It is well with you.
