TO MY FELLOW MENTAL HEALTH CONSTITUENTS: So heres a unique twist for all those who work in the mental health community. When you go overseas there is an interesting phenomena as it pertains to the link between mental illness and demonic/supernatural activity. In fact I find it quite interesting that as it pertains to many of the stories in the bible (For the Christian Counselor, whether by theory or faith), there is a close link between what we would define as a psychopathology and demonic/supernatural activity (1 Samuel 16:14-23, Mark 9:25, Matthew 8:28-34 *these are to name a few). NOW I AM BY NO MEANS LINKING ANY CONCLUSION THAT ALL PSYCHOLOGICAL ISSUES ARE A RESULT OF DEMONIC ACTIVITY, however how is it that whats the norm and common everywhere else is a pathology in the United States and westernized communities? Ah, perhaps we have learned to sooth our conviction of truth by pathologizing our demons. TO ALL MY FRIENDS IN THE MENTAL HEALTH ARENA YOU CAN NEVER DISMISS THE PRESENCE OF SUPERNATURAL CAUSATION NOR THE POTENTIAL THAT YOUR DIAGNOSIS IS WRONG. Some people have real mental health issues, others do have the presence of demonic activity and I would venture to say that its more the latter than the form. After three years of study, and near completion of my masters in mental health counseling I am conceived we need the HOLY SPIRIT MORE THAN OUR DSM AND THEORIES. Friends, while social network hardly does the justice of appealing to your heart, Paul warned us that there would be a form of godliness but denying the power thereof (2 Timothy 3:5), my appeal is open your ears and esteem the voice, honor the voice, adhere to the voice of the Spirit beyond your training, theoretical orientation, and even experiences.
