TO SHARE THIS - CUT AND PASTE ALL THE TEXT INTO A NEW POST. THANK YOU CALL FOR CONTRIBUTIONS FOR YOURE CRAZY VOLUME TWO!! Dear Friends, Punks and Peers, This is the call for contributions for ‘You’re Crazy – Volume Two’ an anthology of first-hand accounts of punk rockers (and people from the “scene”) who deal with mental health struggles, addiction and trauma. ‘You’re Crazy – Volume Two’ book’s purpose is to destroy the stigma that we face in society (and the scene) by owning who we are and creating solidarity with each other and being supportive about our struggles and experiences. Punk rockers are the misfits of society and those of us who struggle with our mental health, addiction and trauma often live isolated and alienated lives, misunderstood and alone. This must end and it ends now, with your contribution of your personal story telling of your lived experience in this challenging world that we live in. I am asking you to share how you face the world on a daily basis, to talk about your struggles and successes and how you cope and hopefully share about your recovery journey and/or your desire to get healthy and live life in the best way possible. We can support each other and we can build a network of solidarity and support and no longer do we have to stand in the corner or in the shadows. This is your opportunity to speak up and be heard. Please consider contributing your first-hand account to ‘You’re Crazy – Volume Two.’ Together we can destroy the stigma that we face. • Regarding what specifically to write about: Write about your life experiences with mental health struggles, addiction and trauma and about the stigma and judgment you have faced, how your family has treated you, about your experiences with/within the punk scene and your relationship to the scene and those in it, about your daily struggles and suffering, about your successes and accomplishments despite the challenges you face/have faced, about relationships/friendships, legal/police issues, poverty, housing, medication (good experiences/bad experiences, why you take it/why you won’t), mistrust and abuse by providers (and healthy/good experiences), tragedies, losses, pain, institutionalization ,rehab, successes, positive treatment, peer support, effective help, about your dreams and desires and your recovery, and your ongoing struggle. •This is an opportunity to tell your story. There is no right or wrong story. There is no judgment. Your experience is as difficult, painful, desperate, horrendous, amazing, life-changing or wonderful as you feel that it is. There are no comparisons. What you have experienced is valid and you are important and must be treated with respect and dignity and feel legitimized. •Not every story is going to be one of complete success or recovery and your story does not have to have a happy ending, however perhaps if we can build solidarity and increase our sense of empowerment; we can live happier, healthier and more satisfying lives. •Please write up to 3000 (or so) words typed. •You can get a copy of ‘You’re Crazy – Volume One’ here: WWW.PUNKSINRECOVERY.COM •The deadline for submissions is August 20th, 2014. Please email your submission and any and all questions to: [email protected] please direct all correspondence to this email address (not via Facebook) .Thank you very much.
