TODAYS FORECAST: Today Thursday will begin rather damp and overcast in many areas with outbreaks of drizzle likely in many areas. During the afternoon and evening however the cloud is likely to break up and leave all areas enjoying some spells of sunshine from time to time. Top temperatures today will range between 18 and 20 degrees in light and variable breezes. Tomorrow Friday will be similar to today in many ways with all areas likely to see some spells of rain during the morning and afternoon before generally brightening up from the southwest as the day continues. Winds will be fresh tomorrow and from a southwesterly region. Top temperatures will again range between 17 and 19 degrees. Saturday is likely to be the best day of the weekend with all areas set to enjoy some long dry spells and just the outside chance of a light shower. Temperatures will be down a couple of degrees on recent days with highs of between 16 and 18 degrees likely. Sunday at present looks as though it will continue to see the dry spell continuing with all areas seeing some long dry spells and a few hazy spells of sunshine. During the afternoon and evening high cloud in relation to a weather system pushing in from the west will gradually cross the country. Any rain from this system should remain rather light. On a side note Sunday in meteorological terms is noted as being the first day of Autumn. The general consensus of the seasons is that August is the first month of Autumn, however August is one of the three warmest months of the year so in meteorological terms August is the last summer month and September is the first Autumn month. Apologies for not updating my page over the last couple of days as I had no internet access. I will be updating as regular from now on. Enjoy your weather wherever you are across the county and region. Regards Cathal.
