TODAY’S SCRIPTURE 12/1/13 Forget yourselves long enough to lend a helping hand (Philippians 2:4 TM). PUT OTHERS FIRST! If you want to be like Jesus, FORGET about yourself and LIVE for others! Listen: The Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many (Mark 10:45NIV). Dont pray for a generous heart, PRACTICE being generous and your heart will follow. As long as you are a SOWER God will give you seed (See 2 Corinthians 9: 10). If He is not giving you all the seed you want at the moment, maybe you havent become a sower yet. Always DO MORE than you are expected to. Rebecca did, and she became the bride of Isaac and the inheritor of his father Abrahams blessings. Have you any idea how much WATER one thirsty CAMEL can drink? Well, Rebecca watered a whole camel train for a perfect stranger. Even though Rebecca didnt know it at the time, she was WRITING the resume for her future. Never PASS UP an opportunity to GIVE or be GRACIOUS; you have no idea whose CAMELS you are watering, or what DOORS of opportunity you may be opening. APPLICATION Instead of always having to be the bride at the wedding and the corpse at the funeral, learn to PUT OTHERS FIRST. Follow the example of the Macedonians. Listen: They gave not only what they could afford, but far more, their first action was to dedicate themselves to the Lord and to us, for whatever directions God might give them through us (2 Corinthians 8:3-5 TLB).
