TODAY’S WORD: 5th November, 2013 II Kings 5:13-14 And his servants came near, and spake unto him, and said, My father, if the prophet had bid thee do some great thing, wouldest thou not have done it? how much rather then, when he saith to thee, Wash, and be clean? Then went he down, and dipped himself seven times in Jordan, according to the saying of the man of God: and his flesh came again like unto the flesh of a little child, and he was clean. The bible describes Naaman captain of the host of the king of Syria as a very mighty and an honourable man, because through him the LORD had given many deliverance unto Syria (II Kings 5:1). He was so mighty that even the king of Israel was very afraid when he was told that Naaman was coming to his country for healing (II Kings 5:7). In all of his strength and might, Naaman possessed a rare character that is not often found among most people of his class, that is easy accessibility. For a servant to be able to talk to him and even change his mind means a lot and attest to his accessibility. For some of us, when God elevates us to a good position in life, the people who were formerly our friends find it very difficult to talk to us, not to talk of those who work for us, they dare not come close. Another thing that can be deduced from this whole story of Naaman in II Kings 5:1-15 is that Naaman must have been a very kind man. For all his servants to want his good testifies to this fact unlike some of us who are very wicked to our house helps. Answer this: can the people staying with you bless you or would they rather tend to curse you because of the way you treat them? One thing you should know is that your domestic help to a large extent has the ability to hurt you and at the same time could save you too. Be kind to them (Ephesians 6:9). Pray with me: Father bless me with a humble and kind spirit and the grace to show kindness to those I think don’t deserve it in Jesus name.
