TODAY’S WORD: 6th July, 2013 Luke 6:40 A disciple is not above his teacher, but everyone who is perfectly trained will be like his teacher. (NKJV). The statement … A disciple is not above his teacher… should call for concern if you are a child of God who is interested in his or her spiritual growth. Your teacher here could be your pastor and following this statement from the master Himself, your level of spiritual growth could be tied to the spiritual growth of the person under whose ministry you sit. So is very pertinent to watch whose pastoral anointing you are under. If you look around these days within ministries (especially in Africa), you will discover that people consciously or unconsciously tend to do what their pastors do; they tend to speak like their pastor, they preach like their pastor and make the same gesticulations, some even dress the same way their pastor dresses. All these goes to show the great influence that the man called Pastor could have over the followers. Knowing these, waiting on God to determine who that man should be is very crucial. Knowing that your success in life and ministry may to a large extent be determined by the quality of your man of God, you cannot just afford to be under any kind of a covering, you have to be in a place where you are sure you are spiritually well nourished. I am an advocate of the statement that says if the place where you worship cannot change you, change it. Romans 6:16a; Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey… be wise. God bless you.
