****TOM NEEDS A HERO AND A NEW HOPE PARTNER TO MAKE IT OUT ALIVE**** Getting TOM out of his kennel and walking him to and from the yard is like trying to move a mountain. He is a scared pooch, most likely a lonely yard dog found as a stray and totally lost in a big shelter environment. He does not eat the dog food made available to him but nibbles on roast beef. He lies at the back of his den and needs a lot of coaxing to exit. On the way to a pen, TOM tries multiple times to hide under a bench and when finally off leash, doubt if he has ever seen one, he lies at a distance, not responding, his face just expressing fear or being totally lost... TOM is quite a beautiful dog counting a St Bernard in his ancestry. He seems younger than his stated age. He is poorly groomed and its doubtful if he ever knew a soft pillow. It is not going to be easy, if at all possible, to know who TOM really is unless he decides to come out of his shell. May be other premises, a home environment with a yard, a savvy owner who knows the breed....and TOM, who is only about 3 years old, will have the chance to know another kind of life, a chance at being a pet.
