TOMORROW: DIME SEMINAR GAFSP Baselines in Action: Agriculture and Food Security in Rwanda, Bangladesh, and Mongolia Presenter: Daniel Stein - Development Impact Evaluation (DIME) Tuesday, December 3rd 12:30pm – 13:30pm Room: MC4-301 World Bank Summary The Global Agriculture and Food Security Program (GAFSP) attempts to counter food and nutrition security challenges in its recipient countries around the world. In Rwanda, farmers struggle to squeeze productivity out of steep hillsides. In Bangladesh, they attempt improving rice yields in the face of a growing population and creeping salinization. In Mongolia, nomadic herders fight to keep their herds healthy through long, harsh winters. In total, DIME is conducting impact evaluations of GAFSP investments in 6 countries. This seminar will show results from the first three completed baseline surveys, in Rwanda, Bangladesh, and Mongolia, and discuss how they have assisted project operations. The baseline data brings out distinct challenges in agriculture and food security in each country, and highlights their differences and similarities.
