TOP 25 DOWNLOADS FROM JBMT in 2013 Every year Elsevier provide information regarding the most popular articles downloaded from their thousands of journals. Not surprisingly I pay particular attention to the information regarding The Journal of Bodywork & Movement Therapies, that I edit. The majority of subscribers to JBMT receive the electronic (online) version, although a significant number (including myself) still prefer the old-fashioned printed version. Perhaps unsurprisingly few people now read any issue of any journal all the way through, but selectively choose articles that interest them. In relation to the popularity issue (measured by downloads), that I mentioned at the start of this post, most of the downloads are not by subscribers, but by people who access JBMT via the data base ScienceDirect, to which they may have access via their institutions. The list (below) is of interest to me because it indicates topics that resonate with busy practitioners... Also of interest are the number of times particular articles have been cited in other peoples work.... Of these the most cited are articles on Pilates, Core stability and trigger points...
