John Newton said: “When I was young, I was sure of many things; now there are only two things of which I am sure: one is, that I am a miserable sinner; and the other, that Christ is an all-sufficient Saviour. He is well-taught who learns these two lessons.” Moses, a great prophet of God, who received divine commendation for his earthly ministry, prophetically spoke about the coming of the Messiah, the Lord Jesus Christ. Even though he did great exploits for the Lord in the land of Egypt and also in the wilderness, Moses disclosed the promise of the great Prophet with a command to the Israelites to receive Him and hearken to Him. Although there were those who believed that this was the promise of a succession of prophets in Israel, we are sure that it was primarily intended as a promise of Christ. Moses equally charged Joshua in particular, and Israel in general, to remember all the commandments, which the Lord had given them “to observe and do them.” Jesus Christ, the son of God, is the greatest Man that ever lived. He is greater than the greatest, wiser than the wisest because He is the wisdom of God; and He is higher than the highest because He is the everlasting Father having no beginning of days nor end of time. Speaking to the religious people of His days, He affirmed: “Before Abraham was, I am.” Christ was concealed in the Old Testament, but revealed in the New Testament. He came to the world as the Lamb of God sacrificed in order to take away the sins of the whole world. He is the ladder from earth to heaven. He is the only Mediator between sinful men and holy God. Salvation from sin and victory over Satan is only possible through faith in His blood. Whatever you are going through this day, you can experience total transformation by faith in His atoning blood. As a believer, you can enjoy daily victory as you trust in the Lord and daily obey His Word. THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Life without Christ is hopeless.
