TPP will given foreign corporations invested in extractive industries the power to sue governments in international tribunals outside the jurisdiction of their court systems, demanding compensation for lost potential future profits when expanding or enforcing our environmental laws prevents them from making money off of destroying our environment. There is no limit on the amount corporations can demand in compensation! Currently, Costa Rica is being sued for $1 billion under a similar agreement for not letting a mining company destroy its rainforest! Corporations invested in tar sands oil extraction could potentially sue our government if we require a cleanup after a tar sands oil spill!
