TRADITIONAL RULERS TO COME & CHOP TOO Role for Traditional Rulers The House voted to provide for a role for traditional rulers in the Constitution at the national, state and local government levels. At the national level, six traditional rulers reflecting the federal character of Nigeria are to be members of the National Council of State for four-year duration. At the state level, a State Council of Chiefs is to be established. A similar provision shall be made at the council level. Their role shall be mainly advisory.
