TRAGIC NEWS today. I’m so very very sorry to report that a baby girl we brought just a few weeks ago has died. Buddy-na. A beautiful beautiful girl with all her life to look forward to, so much life in her. I’m beyond crushed to hear this, we spend every minute chasing the nightmare of Romania down, trying to outrun it for each and every baby; this should never happen here. It should never happen, the nightmare returning when the babies should be safe. Buddyna was on her way back to her original fosterer after a holiday break. She slipped her collar in a service station and was hit by a vehicle. I have no words left in me for how wrong this is. And there is no way to cover this over as a simple tragedy; dogs should never be taken out of vehicles en route. This was a preventable tragedy. It’s unbearable to write that, but it’s the truth. Too many babies are put at risk for lack of secured transportation. Every week a dog in the UK is slipping a collar, not secured as every baby should be to keep them safe. Some of them are returned with luck – without the security that should be in place, that is all it is, luck. This is an unacceptable horror and our hearts are broken to pieces for her rescuer, Alexandra Sarau. There are no words to reach to Alex, no words to change this. This post is NOT for a frenzy of blame and accusation; everyone involved, including the transporter, is ripped to pieces. Any post inciting argument will be deleted. We are in mourning for Buddyna, Alex is in mourning for Buddyna, nothing can bring her back. Read the security advice, for god’s sake, READ IT.
