TRAINING DOG OF THE WEEK: CHYNA Hi. My name is Chyna, and I am approximately 6 years old and have been living at the Shelter for 3 1/2 years. You may have thought that I was adopted recently ... unfortunately I was not a match with that family although we both tried really hard. You see, I had a rough start at life so change is a little harder for me than your average dog . Animal Control saved me from kids who were hitting and poking me with sticks while I was tied to a fence. I was brought to Almost Home, and as you can imagine, I had lost my faith in people. But I began Almost Homes Training and Socialization Program about 8 months ago, and through the love and patience from my handlers, I am starting to come around with people again. I really hope I get another chance at my happily-ever-after, and if you think you might be it, you would receive a lot of support in helping me transition into a life with you. We can continue to attend weekly training classes, our trainer will conduct an in-home training session to introduce me into your life, and the nice people at Almost Home will provide additional guidance that is essential to making my assimilation go smoothly. Decompressing after being abused and then spending 3 1/2 years in the shelter will not happen overnight in my new home, but it will definitely happen with your love, patience and a little extra time.
