TRIGG COUNTTY, Ky.— The Kentucky State Police is investigating a fatality collision that occurred on Saturday, October 26, 2013 at approximately 04:04 a.m. The collision occurred on I-24 at the 62 mile marker approximately 5 miles from Cadiz, KY. Preliminary investigation shows that James K. Davis, 60 of Laurel, MS was traveling eastbound on Interstate 24, operating a 2013 Western Star semi, pulling a loaded flatbed trailer of lumber. For an unknown reason Davis went into the emergency strip then over corrected crossing both eastbound lanes and traveling through the median, where it overturned and the cab of the semi came to final rest in the left lane of the westbound lane of traffic. Charles E. Carr, 67 of Naples, FL was traveling west on Interstate 24, operating a 2010 Pontiac G6. Carr was unable to avoid the collision and struck the semi that had come to final rest in the travel portion of the roadway. Trigg County Coroner pronounced James Davis dead at the scene. Charles Carr was transported to Jennie Stuart Medical Center for his injuries. It is unknown at this time of if either driver was wearing a seat belt at the time of the collision. Trooper Brad Ramsey is continuing the investigation. Trooper Ramsey was assisted on the scene by the Trigg County Sheriff’s Department, Trigg Calloway County EMS, Trigg County Coroner’s Office, Montgomery Fire Department, Trigg County Emergency Management, and the Kentucky State Police Division of Commercial Motor Vehicle Enforcement.
