TRINIDAD EXPRESS AUGUST 6 2 K 13.. Update - baby reunited with mom Newborn ‘snatched by male relative’ By Susan Mohammed susan.mohammed@trinidadexpress Story Created: Aug 5, 2013 at 9:53 PM ECT Story Updated: Aug 6, 2013 at 6:38 PM ECT The baby boy taken from the family home by a male relative three weeks ago, was reunited Tuesday with his mother. Five month old Caleb Edwards was handed over to his mother Thereese Roy, who got an anonymous tip that the child was at a newspaper office in San Fernando where the male relative and a State social worker, were being interviewed. On Monday, Roy has launched an appealing for help to find her newborn baby who was taken from her by a close male relative three weeks ago. Roy, 31, of Agostini Settlement, wept as she begged for the return of her son, Caleb Edwards, who will turn five months old on Wednesday. “I cannot eat, I cannot sleep. I tremble a lot. I am worried about his safety and well-being. He is not a well child. He developed a breathing problem and he needs my care,” said Roy. The mother of four said she last saw the infant on July 15 when the relative picked him up from her home. “He (the relative) did not return with the child that night. He said he wanted his grandfather to see the child, and he would bring him the next day. I kept waiting and looking out, and they never came. When I called on the cell phone he (the relative) did not answer,” Roy told the Express. She said she later reported the child missing to the Rio Claro and Chaguanas police stations, but she has received no feedback from the police. Roy said a relative of hers said she spotted the relative with the last on Saturday in Palmyra. “I heard that he (the relative) was eating doubles in Palymra, and there was a woman with him holding the child. How can that be? It is not your baby, you cannot just take someone’s baby and act like it is yours,” said the mother. Anyone with information can contact Roy at 319-1318, 777-0888, 644-1314, or the Rio Claro Police Station at 644-2332.
