TROPICAL CYCLONE WARNING: TROPICAL STORM LUIS (KALMAEGI) Issued at 5:00 p.m., Saturday, 13 September 2014 Tropical Storm Luis intensified further and accelerated as it continues to move toward Cagayan-Isabela area. Location of Center: (as of 4:00 p.m.) 364 km Northeast of Virac, Catanduanes Coordinates: 14.9°N, 127.4°E Strength: Maximum sustained winds of 110 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 140 kph. Movement: Forecast to move West Northwest at 20 kph. Forecast Positions/Outlook: Sunday afternoon: 138 km Northeast of Casiguran, Aurora Monday afternoon: 238 km West Northwest of Laoag City Tuesday afternoon: 481 km West Northwest of Laoag City. Public Storm Warning Signal Signal # 2 Isabela Cagayan Signal #1 Calayan and Babuyan Group of Islands Apayao Kalinga Mt. Province Ifugao Nueva Vizcaya Quirino Aurora Catanduanes Residents in low lying and mountainous areas under signal #2 and #1 are alerted against possible flashfloods and landslides. Likewise, those living in coastal areas under signal #2 are alerted against storm surges. Estimated rainfall amount is from 8 – 20 mm per hour (heavy - Intense) within the 500 km diameter of the Tropical Storm. The combined effect of the Tropical Storm and the Southwest Monsoon will bring moderate to occasionally heavy rains and thunderstorms which may trigger flasfloods and landslides in Bicol Region and the provinces of Samar and Quezon while light to moderate rains and thunderstorms over Metro Manila, the rest of Luzon and Visayas Fishing boats and other small seacrafts are advised not to venture out into the seaboards of Visayas and the eastern seaboard of Southern Luzon and Mindanao. The public and the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (DRRMC) concerned are advised to take appropriate actions and watch for the next bulletin to be issued at 11 PM today. -PAGASA
