TROYS SONG OF THE DAY: Can You Foolby Glen Campbell. Born Glen Travis Campbell on April 22, 1936 in Delight, Arkansas as the 7th of 12 children to an Arkansas sharecropper. Campbell began playing music as a child, & played in several local bands in & around his hometown. In 1960 he moved to Los Angeles, where he joined the band. The Champs known for their 1958 hit Tequila. In the mid sixties Campbell filled in for Brian Wilson as a member of the Beach Boys . Then after signing with Capital Records, he found success with 1967s Gentle on My Mind. Throughout his career Campbell has won numerous music awards, though not without controversy. His affair with his friend Mac Davis wife took a toll on his image in the mid 70s, & so did his affair with a very young Tanya Tucker in the early 80s, in which there were allegations of physical abuse by him to her. Despite all of his faults, he is a great talent, & Can You Fool, released from his 1978 album Basic, is my favorite by him.
