TRUE CONFESSION OF A SAINIK -UTTARAKHAND TRAGEDY Hello my dear indian bro & sis , I am a 31 yrs aged Captain in defence services , native delhi but I am first a indian always. I was posted for 5 days at uttarakhand (17th-22nd) with my teams Jawan and sorry to say readers that my confession is not linked to delhi metro but to the present trauma which happened at our countrys land of gods . I am sharing my those experiences . We were ordered to move urgently to rishikesh and further ramwara/kedarnath on 17th. The few horrifying scenes I noticed in these days : 1. Once the lively place, has turned into a real nigtmare. Everything looked demolish with heavy water, flood and mud , broken buildings and people suffering everywhere. 2. There were few people whom we saved and they had not even drinking water since 3 days and above that, most of them were senior citizens. 3. Unfortunately, we tried best but could not help 3 people who were in middle of river while crossing and the water force increased within 2-3 minutes and they were just swept off in that flood as if they were toys and the cries/plead of them are still alive in my ears. Oh god , how u could be so cruel. 4. We found 1 five year old boy who lost his parents and his elder sister was missing and he was saved by a local man . 5. People were not able to contact their relatives and family members and the families back were all in cries and worries with no idea abt their parents or members for 4-5 days . Just imagine the situation when we are in complete dark wrt our members that are they alive or not and what might have happened to them. 6. Whatever the officials claim, the death toll would be surely between 5000-7500 life. 7. We (my 8 jawan members) saved arnd 490 people and all credit goes to my jawans . I know that its our duty but honestly, we dont look at victims color, religion, age , state, gender and put our lifes in risk for our fellow country people without 2nd thought. We are trained to face such situations and are made tough but this live hell made all of us somewhere shattered inside . And few points I would like to raise here or ask to all of us : 1. How could our politicians /rulers be so ruthless, heartless and selfish that they were only busy announcing funds , show off their efforts, and playing dirty politics over dead peoples and such a unimaginable loss. It really hurts. 2. There were few outsiders who were busy in theft, snatching valuables and trying to get money in such a situation. I dont understand that how a human can run behind materialistic things when in front of his eyes, he is seeing that nothing is permanent and life is like a bubble of water which could blow off any moment. 3. There was prior forecast of heavy rainfalls but our government never took single step towards stopping the people movement or avoiding the bigger loss in such a calamity. 4. The necessary aid was always less when compared to lives in danger whether choppers, food, blankets , rescue teams , and sorry to say but all rescue teams were lacking coordination as no joint commitee or ruling team. 5. When we will learn to stop playing with nature bcoz the main reason for such huge loss is cutting trees, constructing unauthorized buildings on risk prone lands and putting thousands life in danger for someones selfishness. Atlast , I could only pray to god that we dont see such a disaster again and take pledge that we all indians will be good law abiding citizen who will think of our country above all other matters and help people in need . I am also broken after watching/remembering my those 5 days but soon , will come over it. Could only say bas bhagwan hum sabko ek acha insaan banne ki soch aur shakthi de” . JAI HIND
