TWENTY FOUR YEARS AGO TODAY: In 1991, after the breakthrough success of Faith No Mores The Real Thing album, singer Mike Patton reunited with his high school buddies band Mr. Bungle and used all the major record label money to get THEM a record deal and apparently invest in a whole lot of costuming and Halloween masks and unleashed Zappafied bit of comedic avant-garde funk metal for funkier and heavier than FNMs own excellent efforts (FNM would themselves get even freakier on their follow up alum Angel Dust). Here is a concert from that period, opening with them covering Welcome Back Kotter in English AND Spanish, an Andy Kaufman style style slam at Janes Addiction, and their own compositions interspersed with nods to the Super Mario thems and a surprisng straight cover of Tom Jones Thunderball. youtu.be/WA0iu6K1Vuc
